Memoirs of a Gay Guy is it. Period. MOAGG is a small, occasionally updated blog about being gay, being a teenager, being from the South, being in love, being a spaz-o-mat and generally being alive.

MOAGG is lovingly written by Jonathan, who has been known by a good many names—most notably Joe5150Leo Nikolaevich and posthoc69 (on a number of gay networking sites. It’s not something he likes to talk about). Jonathan enjoys computer programming, graphic design, photography, Lucas, blogging and breathing. Jonathan is single and not looking, so keep it in your pants.

A short history of MOAGG

Memoirs of a Gay Guy started out as a smallish MySpace blog in the summer of 2006. 2006 was the year Jonathan was beginning to creep out of his closet. It was the summer he read James Howe’s coming-of-age novel Totally Joe, which, besides inspiring Jonathan’s most oft-used alias, rather encouraged Jonathan to come out to his classmates and family. MOAGG was his first effort to reach out to the gay world at large.

He blogged on MySpace under the pseudonym “Leo Nicholaevich” for the better part of the summer and fall of 2006, before abandoning that site in favor of Google’s Blogger service. MOAGG was hosted by Blogger.com for nearly two years, until all of the posts were “accidentally” deleted there. Or something like that. Fortunately, they were backed up, and it was decided that since a move to WordPress was planned anyway, this may very well be a sign from above that the time is right. So in September 2008, he moved the whole blog to WordPress.com and began redirecting traffic from the Blogger blog to this one.
